Press Conference FPPC

The Press Conference event casts competitors as Public Information Officers for a fire department. Participants will prepare and deliver a press release, addressing a simulated audience in a press conference setting.

The purpose of the Press Conference event is to encourage students to refine their public speaking skills, harnessing the power of effective verbal and non verbal communication to convey complex information clearly, concisely, and confidently to the media and public.

Objectives

  • The competitor will use communication skills related to fire management.
  • The competitor will identify safety procedures for ensuring a safe environment.
  • Competitor will evaluate behaviors, strategies, and protocols that demonstrate an understanding of duties while responding to a variety of emergency incidents.
  • The competitor explains the duties of a firefighter after a fire.
